Bridgerton Has a New Season 3 Cast Member, and She Looks Awfully Familiar
Season 3 of Bridgerton is going to be released at some point in 2023, and with the latest news came the updates on the cast.
It was announced that new characters will be added to the show. One of the newly revealed cast choices is Hannah New, best known as the star of Black Sails.
The actress's big break was the movie Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie, where she played Princess Leila. In the Bridgerton New will play Lady Trilley Arnold, a young woman that became a widow at an early age, leaving her with privileges, power, and money her late husband left her, alongside sexual freedom. As soon as this new addition to the Bridgerton in the upcoming season 3 came out fans took it to Reddit to discuss the new cast.
Many congratulated the actress for the role and expressed their interest in seeing what the actress and the writers would do with the character. There is a whole bunch of theories on where exactly the character will fit in the established storylines.
But it seems like it is not the choice of actors that mainly concerned the Redditors but rather the characters themselves not being a part of the original books. "They need to stop adding new characters that are not from the books," says one of the comments.
"RIP Bridgerton family. You are not dead but the writers prioritize new OCs instead giving you proper screentime," echoes another one that leads to further discussion, "I'm not even a reader of the books, because JQ's writing is not for me, but the fact they keep adding OCs when they have perfectly adequate characters to explore already and they don't is puzzling to me."
Many of the fans are concerned that with the new additions to the cast their beloved characters might not get nearly enough screen time, "Now we know why Jonny was able to book so many things that film at the same time as Bridgerton. With all of these new characters there will no time for Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton in S3." Another Reddit user also suggested that as far as the description of the new character goes, this could've been an exciting character's arc, "This could've been Lady Danbury storyline for S3. Wealthy, powerful widow."
Hannah New joining the cast of Bridgerton has made the conversation fire surrounding the third season burn brighter. Will this cast addition be a hit with the fans – we are yet to find out.
