Can 'Freakier Friday' Top the Original? I’m Here for It Either Way

Jamie Lee and Lindsay are back.

Okay, so Freakier Friday is finally happening, and I’m honestly kind of buzzing about it. The sequel to the classic 2003 Freaky Friday drops in cinemas early August 2025 — August 7 in the UK and August 8 in the US, Canada, and Australia.

Yep, it’s happening almost simultaneously worldwide, which means no more waiting forever for us international fans.

I’m a big fan of the original, so seeing Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan back as Tess and Anna totally makes my day.

Plus, the new cast looks great — Julia Butters plays Anna’s daughter Harper, and there’s Chad Michael Murray and Manny Jacinto too. It feels like the perfect mix of nostalgia and fresh energy.

Now, the body swap drama? This time it’s all about blended families — Anna has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, which is bound to create all kinds of hilarious and heartwarming chaos.

Honestly, the new twist has me really curious about how they’ll keep the magic alive but make it feel new.

Trailer’s out, and I’ve watched it way too many times already (don’t judge). If you haven’t seen it, go check it out — it gives a perfect sneak peek of the fun and craziness coming our way.

I’m already planning to catch it in theaters, but if you’re more of a home viewer like me, expect Freakier Friday to land on Disney+ a few months after the big screen release. So comfy couch movie nights, here we come!

Do you think Freakier Friday will outshine the original, or is the classic unbeatable?
