The movie will tell the story of Klara, an artificial intelligence friend designed to help people suffering from loneliness. A concerned mother orders Klara to her sick teenage daughter, and thus begins Klara's adventure to save her new friend from loneliness, heartbreak, and a mysterious disease.

Previously, it was announced that Jenna Ortega would play the lead role of Klara, with Amy Adams appearing as the girl's mother. Klara's new friend, Josie, will be played by another industry newcomer, Mia Tharia. Aran Murphy will play the role of Josie's neighbor, who also doubles as her best friend, Rick.

At this time, there are no exact details on when production on the film will begin or if there will be any more additions to the already star-studded cast.
