'Clayface' Casts Female Villain Played by 'Mickey 17' Star

Naomi Ackie joins DCU horror thriller alongside Tom Rhys Harries.
What if Gotham’s most tragic villain got the body horror treatment? That’s exactly what’s brewing in the upcoming Clayface — and now, Deadline reports, the film may have found its female lead: Naomi Ackie.
You might’ve seen her in Mickey 17 or Blink Twice, but this time, she’s entering the dark, twisted halls of the DC Universe.
Ackie is reportedly in early talks to join Clayface, the latest horror-thriller penned by genre favourite Mike Flanagan and directed by Speak No Evil’s James Watkins. She’d star alongside Tom Rhys Harries in a story that’s shaping up to be DCU’s creepiest outing yet.
So, what’s the story? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film follows an up-and-coming actor whose face is brutally disfigured by a gangster. Desperate, he turns to an unorthodox scientist — described as a kind of "Elizabeth Holmes" figure — for help.
The experiment seems to work… until it doesn’t. Let’s just say, you’ll want to watch this one with the lights on.
Though DC Studios hasn't officially revealed who Ackie will play, her role appears to be tied closely to that morally murky scientist — a key figure in Clayface’s origin tale. Given the film’s horror leanings, don't expect your typical comic-book fare.
Clayface is set to hit cinemas on September 11, 2026. It wasn’t part of the original "Gods and Monsters" slate, but with Mike Flanagan’s script driving it forward, this film might just be the DCU’s most daring experiment yet.
