K-Dramas make your favorite Netflix shows shake in their boots.

If, for some reason, you are still holding back from checking out everything the South Korean entertainment industry has to offer, you are missing out, and that needs to change. While K-pop bands have taken over half of the world with their perfectly choreographed moves and catchy tunes, the world of Korean dramas has a lot to offer as well.

One of the shows you may have heard of is Crash Landing On You, which premiered simultaneously locally in Korea and globally on Netflix on December 14, 2019, and immediately caught the attention of viewers. The show quickly became one of the most notable international titles on Netflix, as it achieved an undeniable level of success.

As we all know, with great success usually comes a pretty hefty paycheck, but you'd be surprised to learn that the salaries of the main cast weren't even close to what you'd expect.

Despite already being quite big deals in Korea, both Hyun Bin who portrayed Captain of Company Five in the North Korean People's Army Ri Jeong-hyeok, and Son Ye-jin, who portrayed Yoon Se-ri, the actors each made only a little over $100K per episode.

According to various different reports, the female lead went with $108K per episode, and her co-star charged $113K.

The difference may not seem fair, but it doesn't affect the combined wealth of the two co-stars. When Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin tied the knot in March 2022, they became the richest powerhouse in the Korean scene. Thanks to all the salaries, brand deals, and endorsements, they're set to become the most influential couple in the industry.

Of course, these checks are a far cry from what stars of U.S. series usually receive, but with the ever-growing interest in Korean dramas, movies, TV series, and musical artists, it's only a matter of time before we see The Big Bang Theory or Friends level paychecks of $1 million per episode.

If you want to watch the show and decide for yourself if the show is worth such praise and payment, Crash Landing On You is available to stream on Netflix.
