Night City's new crew includes a legend with no chrome, a nomad with a kill list, and a journalist whose weapon is a camera.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 dropped all ten episodes on Netflix on October 20, and the first thing to know is who isn't in it. David Martinez's story ended in 2022 — killed by Adam Smasher while Lucy escaped to the moon — and the sequel from Studio Trigger doesn't resurrect, flashback, or cameo him back to life.

Instead it's a standalone story in the same Night City, with a crew whose character reveals CD Projekt Red rolled out one by one over the summer before the fall premiere.

Who's who in the new crew

  • Weak Kingsley — the leader, and the season's thesis statement. An edgerunner once known as King, he lost his cyberware after a cyberpsychotic episode; installing new chrome risks triggering another one. A legend forced to live unplugged in a city that only respects the plugged-in.
  • D — a nomad netrunner from Snake Nation hunting the killer who wiped out his clan. His revenge road leads him toward corporate secrets that were never meant to surface.
  • Roman Carax — a documentary journalist filming Night City from the inside, which is among the riskier career choices available there. Sztybor called the character a "love letter to cinema" and confirmed he was inspired by Rocket, the camera-carrying protagonist of City of God.
  • Talia Yang — a former corporate worker drawn to the violence of the Maelstrom gang, with family baggage built into the cast list: Avida and Kiril Yang appear too, the latter voiced by Daniel Wu.

The English dub rounds out with Valeria Rodriguez as Roman, Kimoy Lee as Talia, Brittany Lauda as Capri and E.G. Daily as Kyoko Tanaami.

Season 1 was about a kid installing everything he could to become a legend. Season 2 opens with what Night City does to a legend who had to uninstall.

Where the crew plugs into Night City

The names aren't random: each of the four is wired into a corner of Cyberpunk 2077 the first season never visited. D's Snake Nation is the nomad nation of the game's Badlands, and Talia's fixation on Maelstrom points at the gang that treats the human body as a first draft.

Weak carries the lore piece with actual teeth. The game and David's story both treated cyberpsychosis as a one-way ticket; Weak is the franchise's first long look at someone who came back, and the season opens on the bill for surviving.

The harder inheritance is the audience itself. The first Edgerunners won Crunchyroll's Anime of the Year, revived Cyberpunk 2077 sales, and left fans who still post Lucy edits set to "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" four years later.

Whether Weak, D, Roman and Talia can carve that kind of scar tissue is the entire bet of the season — and with all ten episodes out at once, the internet is grading it in real time this week.
