David Corenswet Reveals His Dream Role Outside of DCU: “Don’t Have to Learn Any Choreography”

Superman’s leading star doesn’t mind a sequel for James Gunn’s hit movie, but he would definitely exchange it for a chance in another big franchise.
It’s fair to say David Corenswet knows what it’s like living someone else’s dream as a new Superman in James Gunn’s reimagining of the superhero’s story. The actor does have a better option in mind though.
Appearing in minor roles in both TV and movie pieces before, Corenswet had a breakthrough in Gunn’s brand new movie, potentially returning as the legendary hero in a possible sequel everyone keeps talking about right now.
However, the actor would leave it all behind in a heartbeat if the galaxy far, far away offered him a role of his dream in Star Wars’ franchise — and there’s a reason why Corenswet thinks it will be much easier than Superman.
David Corenswet Sees Himself as an X-Wing Pilot in a ‘Star Wars’ Movie
Despite receiving numerous accolades for a convincing portrayal of Superman in the new film, Corenswet thinks he would still do much better in Star Wars’ universe.
“In the end, as many things do, it came down to the money. I’m already under contract for a [Superman] sequel, but I’d be fresh negotiating for Star Wars”, the actor said during a lie detector test for Variety, answering his co-star Nicolas Hoult’s question about whether he would rather play Superman again or take on the role of Jedi Knight in Star Ward instead.
Corenswet then added that he would be happy to play an X-wing pilot in a Star Wars movie, despite Jedi’s role being his childhood dream.
“But now since I’m into aviation, sitting in an X-wing cockpit … first of all, great way to shoot a movie. You’re just sitting there. You don’t have to learn any choreography”, the actor added jokingly.
‘Superman’ Follow-Up Might Not Be a Traditional Sequel
The good news for DC’s fans here is that some sort of continuation for Superman is in fact happening, as James Gunn has recently confirmed he’s already working on another project.
The not so good news is that there’s so far no way to know about what exactly Superman’s follow-up will be, considering that the director refused to call it a sequel.
“What I’m working on is in some way…I mean, yes, yes, yes, yes. But is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily”, Gunn said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly ahead of Superman’s premiere back in June.
Superman is currently playing in theatres worldwide.
