Episode 8 revealed some old faces and fans are excited about it!

The brand-new Paramount+ Dexter series focuses on young Dexter Morgan (played by Patrick Gibson) on his way to becoming one of Miami’s most terrifying serial killers. It seems the prequel to Showtime ’s biggest TV hit managed to win the fans’ hearts and grab their attention after being labeled unnecessary and unappealing. Each episode gets more and more positive reviews from both critics and audience, praising the performance, the plot, and the pacing of the show.

Warning: Spoilers for Dexter: Original Sin ahead!

Dexter enters the world of crime and justice as a fresh Miami Metro Police Department forensics intern and pretty soon gets involved in a number of homicide cases. One of such cases involves a masked man kidnapping children of local authorities including the captain of the homicide division Aaron Spencer (played by Patrick Dempsey).

By the end of episode 7, it was revealed that this mystery kidnapper is none other than Spencer himself, who kidnapped his own son Nicky and orchestrated everything in order to deal with a cartel in the most brutal way.

While discussing who might be behind the mask of the kidnapper, fans suggested a theory that involved Dexter’s late brother Brian (played in the original by Christian Camargo), who is alive and (questionably) well at the time the prequel is taking place. As this theory wasn’t confirmed, they didn’t rush to forget about Brian at all.

In Episode 8 “Business and Pleasure”, Harry Morgan (played by Christian Slater) and Maria LaGuerta (played by Christina Milian) go to Tampa in order to find clues on the N.H.I. killer case. Accidentally, he finds out that Brian Moser has been released from his mental institution and his file includes mention of Harry and Dexter.

This fact got fans very hooked up as they started to create theories on how Brian might at this point get involved in Dexter’s life. For example, Redditor The_Glam_Reaper said:

“I knew he was the one who killed the 3 people as soon as Dexter said it was a new killer figuring things out. When I posted a comment about it people told me I was wrong.”

They also suggest that Harry’s plotline might get resolved in two ways:

“Harry will get Brian's past wiped clean (or give him a new identity) and set him up in med school somewhere ... effectively diverting him onto a new path the way he tried to do with Dexter,” Redditor StatisticianInside66 said.

Or a darker theory suggested by Redditor Excellent_Yak1694:

“I think Brian kills Dexter’s father. The victims of the serial killer are all linked to Brian’s past. I believe he finds Dexter’s father, kills him and makes it look like a suicide. Deb joins the police force to honor her father’s legacy.”

Fans Spotted A Familiar Face Very Early On

Now that it was officially revealed what Brian Moser looks like in the prequel, fans are sure that it was the same person who appeared in Episode 2 “Kid in a Candy Store”, when Dexter was having lunch with his colleagues. He approached Dexter to ask if one of the seats was taken.

Redditor brockedwardsyyz commented on this scene:

“Now that it’s confirmed it kinda hurts my soul to know how big of a swing he was taking asking “is this seat taken.” It would be crazy if they connected a murder to this exact day just because of how frustrated Brian would have been.”

If one of these fan theories gets confirmed in the last two episodes of the show, it will give a more profound look on Brian’s character and his origins compared to Dexter’s. The only concern is that the creators might make a big plot hole out of it, so let’s hope they do it right.
