Another look into the fancy dining.

It's not uncommon to see an actor's name blow up after a particularly successful project, only for new fans to discover that they've been climbing the industry ladder for years before. And sometimes, if you look through that actor's filmography, you can find some hidden gems among the titles.

Ella Purnell, whose name has been all over the Internet lately thanks to the success of Fallout, has been acting since 2010. Throughout her career, the actress has appeared in many TV shows and movies, and some of them may now get a second life.

Is Sweetbitter Worth Watching?

A drama series based on Stephanie Danler's 2016 novel of the same name, the Starz show was praised for its wit and honesty about the behind-closed-doors world of fine dining, but it wasn't the best adaptation of the source material. While some were quickly hooked, others dropped the show after the first season.

Starring Fallout's Ella Purnell as Tess, who moves to New York and lands a job as a waitress at a famous downtown restaurant, the show explores the ups and downs of any restaurant job and the drama among the staff that always comes with it. For those who loved The Bear, Sweetbitter will either hit all the right notes or be a perfect hate-watch.

The show was not well received by critics at first. Though audiences loved the first season, critics trashed it to the tune of a 30% Rotten Tomatoes rating. With the addition of more directors and writers to the team, Sweetbitter still failed to achieve consistency, but managed to significantly improve the overall score, with season 2 now standing at the 86% mark.

Provocative and, at times, very raunchy, Sweetbitter still has a strong audience demanding that the show continue. Now, with Purnell gaining even more recognition as Fallout's Lucy, Starz may want to reconsider its decision to cancel the show in December 2019 and bring it back in a revival.

Whether you're a fan of Purnell or looking for a dramatic show about the world of food, Sweetbitter is worth a chance. If you haven't had a chance to check out Sweetbitter, you can buy both seasons of the show on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. And if you have already watched the show...
