Ellie’s Relationship With Dina in The Last of Us, Explained
The Last of Us season 2 has just introduced another romantic storyline, but some might have wondered about a new character’s backstory.
The Last of Us ’ season 2 has kicked it off with several major revelations, including bigger roles that now are given to new characters only the original video game’s fans can know enough about.
The instalment’s premiere episode introduced Isabela Merced’s Dina, a newcomer in Jackson who starts up a romance with Bella Ramsay’s Ellie by the time the episode reaches its climax.
Not so much has been said yet about Dina or her life before she somehow ended up in Jackson, but there’s still something to know about her before the show’s upcoming episodes reveal more.
Who Is Dina and Why Is She in Jackson?

In HBO’s series, the only thing to know about Dina is that she’s managed to establish good relationships with both Joel and Ellie, eventually becoming the latter’s love interest.
The video game offers much more though, revealing that Dina is around 20 years old at the time, her parents were killed when she was little, so she grew up with her older sister who, sadly, was also killed later on.

On top of that, it’s even made clear that Dina has been in Jackson for longer than Joel and Ellie, having arrived there earlier and started a relationship with Jesse, in the show portrayed by Young Mazino.
Soon afterwards, she befriends Ellie and breaks up with Jesse, which is where The Last of Us’ season 2 picks the story up.
What’s Next For Dina and Ellie in The Last of Us Season 2
While the show is yet to reveal more about Dina’s backstory and how her life will turn out compared to the original video game’s plot line, the latter already proved that there’s more drama to come.
If the series is to follow the game’s events, Dina and Ellie’s romance will grow, eventually leading to just two of them sharing numerous scenes; things change radically when Ellie decides to go after Joel’s killers and Dina joins her.

Soon, Dina finds out she’s pregnant with Jesse’s child, and Ellie has to find a safe place for her girlfriend to stay in.
After surviving an attack from Abby and her group, both return to Jackson and live happily on a farm, but Ellie embarks on yet another revenge mission which becomes the storyline for The Last of Us’ next chapter.

The Last of Us’ season 2 episode 2 will air on Max on April 20. The remaining six episodes are set to arrive on streaming each Sunday.
