Eric Kripke Spills Tea on Supernatural Reunion in The Boys Season 5: 'All in the Same Frame Together'

Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are now confirmed to join Jensen Ackles in The Boys’ upcoming final season, but there’s even more that Supernatural fans can get excited about. Here’s what both shows’ creator Eric Kripke has just revealed.
Prime Video’s hit superhero series The Boys (Amazon Prime page) is about to wrap with a reunion of the century that has so far existed only in the dreams of Supernatural’s fans.
Both shows are helmed by Eric Kripke, which to many meant there would be a chance to see one of Supernatural’s leads eventually joining The Boys’ cast; this did in fact happen when Jensen Ackles first showed up in the show’s season 3, eventually keeping a recurring role for the next two instalments.
However, two more of Supernatural’s stars might do just the same in The Boys’ season 5 — and that will be a much bigger deal than you probably expected.
Eric Kripke Teases Supernatural Cast’s Reunion ‘In the Same Frame’
There’s nothing yet to say about the roles that Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins have landed, but their paths will surely cross with Ackles’ Soldier Boy.
“It’s a blast. We already shot it. I will confirm that Jared, Jensen, and Misha are all in the same frame together, and in the same storyline, and interacting with each other”, the writer revealed in an interview with TVInsider.
He then also added that the Supernatural reunion is actually bigger than many fans thought, with the show’s director Phil Sgriccia also being on The Boys’ set.
“Having the five of us back together on set, filming, was just so fun and like a high school reunion, and you immediately fall into all your old patterns. It was really heartwarming and nice to like immediately be brought back to these guys that I love and haven’t had them all together, at least in a professional capacity, in years and years. So it was really, really meaningful”, Kripke admitted.
Supernatural Fans Have a Very Specific Wish for Jared Padalecki’s Role
Even though we might not know for sure who the actor will portray in The Boys’ season 5 until it arrives sometime in 2026, Supernatural fans really wish there would be some pattern change.
“I hope Jared gets to play someone absolutely vile”, Redditor Inevitable_Regular85 commented in a thread, suggesting the actor stays away from all the charm and loveliness of his Supernatural character.
“I really hope they make Jared a bad guy. He was amazing as Lucifer in the white suit”, whydyoulietomezorak added up to the discussion.
“Kripke's obsession with turning The Boys into a Supernatural reunion will never not be funny but also I wholly support it. I didn't know Misha would be in it, so idk about him but I really really want Jared to play a bad guy (please not another pervert though)”, Sufficient_Glove245 urged.
When Is The Boys Season 5 Released?
The show’s final season will arrive on Prime Video sometime in 2026.
