You know those theories that sound impossible and absolutely real at the same time? This is one of them.

Euphoria is being narrated by its main character, Rue (Zendaya ), over the course of both seasons. Rue sounds like she already knows everything that is going to happen, and her narration is more of a reflection of what happened rather than live commentary.

What if there is a reason for that?

According to a new fan theory shared on Reddit, Rue might have been... dead this entire time.

"Rue Bennett is an omniscient narrator in the series. She knows all, everyone, as though watching from above… is the series told from her perspective after she overdoses and dies?" Redditor georgewalterackerman suggested. "She's aware of every detail of every character. An omniscient narrator. I don't think she's ever been unreliable."

The theory actually makes sense in a really frightening way if one recalls that Euphoria is, in fact, an adaptation of an Israeli show of the same name... and the main character in the originally show is actually dead. That show only lasted one season, unlike Euphoria, and the fact that the main character is aware of everything is explained by her death.

In Sam Levinson's Euphoria, however, Rue seems to be very much alive (at least we never got to see her dying).

One Redditor offered a way Levinson's show could explain Rue's narration without killing her off in the future.

"I think Narrator Rue is talking from a great time removed from the events of the show, but is not dead. Like, over the 30 or 40 years since all these incidents happen, she's learned the stories and is filling in some of the gaps with her imagination," Reddit user DearMissWaite noted.

However, other fans believe that death might actually be a happy ending for Rue, since she suffered so much and caused pain to people who cared about her. Her death would effectively end her pain and let people who loved her actually breath, even though it would initially be a great tragedy, fans suggested.

Euphoria has been greenlit for season 3, and it is expected to begin filming "soon". However, there are no dates yet: neither for the premiere nor for shooting.
