The show's actors are in the dark about what's to come in Season 5's second half – right there with the rest of us.

Taylor Sheridan may be the mastermind behind hit shows like Yellowstone and its spin-offs, but before he was a successful writer, he was an actor. However, he quickly realized that being "just a number on a call sheet" wasn't the life he wanted and made the switch to writing.

And boy, are we glad he did!

His writing on Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River has been praised and recognized, showing off his ability to create simple plots with complex characters.

Yellowstone Fans Call Episode 5 Worst So Far: Here's What's Wrong With It

In an interview, Sheridan admitted that he likes to keep things simple in his writing and focus on creating complex characters. This approach definitely works for shows like Yellowstone, which has captivated audiences with its dynamic characters like Beth Dutton and Jamie Dutton.

Despite the show's success, fans were surprised to hear that none of the second half of the fifth season has been filmed and the cast hasn't even received their scripts yet.

In an interview with Outsider, Brecken Merrill, who plays Tate Dutton on the show, revealed that the shooting schedule for Yellowstone is "very chaotic" and the cast never knows when they'll have breaks or be back on set. However, despite missing his friends back home in California, Merrill said that they Facetime every day and are only halfway done with the show. He also confirmed that none of the second half of the season has been filmed yet.

With filming set to resume in March, some may find it strange that the cast hasn't received their scripts yet, but it seems to be just how Taylor Sheridan likes to work.

In fact, Luke Grimes, who plays John Dutton, said that they only get their scripts a few days before shooting and that it keeps things "alive and fresh." As for Merrill, he hasn't received a script for the rest of the season yet, but he's just trying to enjoy the ride and not spill any plot secrets.
