This guy is notorious for his love of doing all his stunts on his own – and this one is pretty crazy when you think about it.

Tom Cruise has recently resurged in popularity following the sweeping success of his movie 'Top Gun: Maverick', in which he not only starred but was also the one to pilot his own jets – most of the times.

However, one of his most impressive tricks dates back to the times of 'Mission Impossible ' – particularly to the iconic scene when Cruise's character was holding on for his life while hanging off of an airplane. With the video of actual raw footage resurfacing online, fans are now gasping at the fact that Cruise actually, pretty seriously, did the stunt himself, albeit with a rope holding him close to the plane.

Even with precautionary measures, the fact that Cruise was hanging to a plane that was some 5,000 feet in the air has left a lot of fans stunned. Although there were people who argued that the safety rope made the stunt a tad less impressive.

There was also another opinion: that there was no actual need for Cruise to do the stunt himself.

Cruise outdid himself with the iconic stunt in 'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation', shortly after his character Ethan Hunt climbed Burj Khalifa – the world's highest building located in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. Naturally, that stunt Cruise also did himself.

'Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation' premiered in 2015, and the audacious stunt did its trick for the box office: the movie grossed $682 million worldwide.
