Fans Have 1 Hilarious Question After Disney’s Coco Sequel Announcement

The original animated fantasy movie grossed more than $800 million worldwide in 2017 and has remained one of Disney’s biggest hits since.
In the world of remakes and sequels being greenlit ahead of other original stories, Disney might be the one who’s making the most of it.
Possibly coming off the major success that Inside Out 2 had back in 2024, a sequel to Disney’s other big hit Coco has just been announced, though it will take a while before the movie will eventually come to theatres.
Amidst the news of the fan-favourite story’s revival, these fans are mostly left perplexed about what exactly the continuation will be built on; the future sequel has so far garnered lots of pretty controversial reactions, but some have already offered their witty suggestions for the future film’s plot line.
Coco Fans Have Only One Hilarious Theory About the Sequel’s Storyline
With the movie now scheduled to be released in theatres sometime in 2029, its directors Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, who also helmed the original film, can take their time to develop a proper continuation; for fans, however, there’s only one option that exists right now.
“Well everyone knows Mama Coco died at the end of Coco. What this movie presupposes is...maybe she didn’t?”, Redditor Go_Plate_326 wondered.
Seriously, are we going to just ignore the fact that the future movie is still carrying the name of a dead character might not be the best idea. So, the hilarious question is…
“How many times are they gonna kill that woman?” Apathicary asked while Of_Silent_Earth suggested the new movie should be titled Coco 2: Remember Me?
Coco Doesn’t Need a Sequel, Most of Its Fans Still Say
As the news about Disney’s next big movie has already reached every corner, Coco’s fans have mostly remained concerned about whether it’s in fact something needed.
Apart from many comments joking about the titular character’s resurrection in the upcoming sequel, others are vocal about a possibility of the first movie being dragged for no reason.
“Coco is my favorite Pixar movie, it doesn’t need a sequel”, Redditor AgentQV stated, while edge_n_go wondered why the mouse house would need a sequel anyway if “the story ended beautifully”.
However, unlike many of the original film’s fans, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger keeps his spirits up ahead of the future movie’s production start, despite not revealing plot details.
“While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart and adventure. And we can’t wait to share more soon”, he said in an announcement later published by Variety.
