First Look at Hagrid Actor in New 'Harry Potter' Has All Fans Saying the Same Thing

The series based on JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series has just started its production, but fans aren’t seeing HBO keep its main promise.
Things have been slowly moving forward for HBO’s Harry Potter reboot series ever since it was announced last year, yet it has just got closer to its release with the production start this week.
The show will star all the new faces with Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout as Harry, Hermione and Ron respectively, also featuring several other characters that make appearances in JK Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone”.
However, HBO’s recent production update still got everyone talking, and this time about one of the actors who Harry Potter’s fans had high hopes for.
HBO Releases First Photo of Nick Frost as Hagrid
As the studio announced in its social media, the production of the Harry Potter series’ first season kicked off on Monday at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the UK, with the creators seemingly going through the scenes of Hagrid and Harry’s first encounter right now.
Right after HBO’s post featuring the photo of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, another picture was dropped, depicting Nick Frost as Hagrid who was previously portrayed by Robbie Coltrane in the original movie franchise’s 8 instalments.
‘Harry Potter’ Fans Aren’t Impressed by HBO’s Take on Hagrid
The studio’s active promotion mode after the show’s production started served as a reminder of HBO’s own promise to make its adaptation more faithful than the original franchise and, what’s even more important, to bring in some major differences that wouldn’t force fans to draw comparisons.
The first look at Nick Frost’s Hagrid, however, made some have second thoughts on whether the company will keep that promise.
“Wish they would’ve changed the style a bit, it just looks like a guy doing a Robbie Coltrane Hagrid cosplay”, Redditor Herdnerfer commented on the news in a thread.
“Just like with Harry, the costuming looks almost like a carbon copy from the movie? Really surprised by that, I assumed they'd rather do their own thing”, laikocta noted.
“He looks too soft to be Hagrid. I would never believe that man kept chickens let alone wrestled a troll or gave a suppository to a three headed dog. He is hairy enough but they need to rough him up, make him look like he has been outside and worked for a living”, zmayes added.
