Forget 'And Just Like That' Failure, Better Rewatch 'Sex and the City's Best Episode

Sex and the City had many heartwarming and heartbreaking episodes, but none topped "I Heart NY," and here's why it's worth revisiting, even 26 years later.
While even the most devoted fans of Sex and the City are sitting in disappointment after the finale of And Just Like That, I decided to focus on the best thing that happened to the original show – the episode titled "I Heart NY."
Although it is not the highest rated episode of the original show (that honor goes to "An American Girl in Paris: Part Deux") I'm sure that most fans of the show consider it to be the embodiment of all that is best about Sex and the City.
What Is "I Heart NY" About?
Mr. Big decides to move to California, and Carrie arranges a farewell date for him. Meanwhile, Miranda gives birth.
Moon River plays, a chariot drives through Central Park, Samantha tries on the role of a spy, and Charlotte tries to stop being a prisoner of an unhappy marriage.
As usual, the episode combines the funny and tender, the romantic and absurd. It warms you with the knowledge that there are always people and places you want to return to, like the four beloved friends from New York.
"I Heart NY" Is One of the Most Touching Tributes to New York
If I were asked to choose one episode of Sex and the City that best exemplifies my love for the show, I would choose "I Heart NY."
New York has always been the fifth best friend of the main characters – rude, tender, familiar, and alien. The city changed alongside the friends, supporting them and sometimes pushing them away.
The tribute to New York came out at a tragic moment for the city's residents and the world. The episode was released after the September 11 attack and became an anthem for the city.
New York Was the Fifth Main Character on 'Sex and the City'
Over the course of six seasons, Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte met, fell in love, broke up, and looked for love again.
Throughout it all, their main and most constant passion remains New York – the "romance" they all share. And like most couples, they experience both perfect moments and disagreements.
For example, when Carrie is robbed in broad daylight in the center of Manhattan, or sees herself without makeup and with a hangover on the cover of New York Magazine.
