Forget 'The Last of Us', Watch This Game Adaptation That Just Finished Its Second Season (It Has 92% on RT)

Twisted Metal just finished its second season, but it received far less attention than it deserves. Here is why it's a must-see for fans of video game adaptations.
The second season of Twisted Metal has ended, but the series remains in the shadow of higher-profile game adaptations, such as Fallout and The Last of Us.
However, the show deserves much more attention. John Doe's adventures strike the perfect balance between action and storytelling in just 22 30-minute episodes.
What Is 'Twisted Metal' About?
The story takes place in post-apocalyptic America and tells about John Doe, a courier who carries out orders in exchange for a reward. One day, the leader of New San Francisco, Raven, calls John and gives him a dangerous task: deliver a package in exactly ten days.
In return, she promises him a place in her safe, cozy city. John agrees to the risky job. His companion on this difficult journey is a daring woman named Quiet.
John and Quiet soon meet a maniac in a clown mask nicknamed Sweet Tooth, as well as other dangerous post-apocalyptic inhabitants.
'Twisted Metal' Is a Unique Video Game Adaptation
The project doesn't compete with The Last of Us for the title of best game adaptation – there is simply no basis for a fair comparison.
The original Twisted Metal is a racing game without a plot. Several drivers compete for the opportunity to ask the magical creature Calypso to grant them one wish.
The show's creators chose an unconventional path – instead of racing, they presented an expanded prequel to the tournament.
'Twisted Metal' Is Similar in Style and Spirit to 'Deadpool' and 'Zombieland'
Initially, fans of the original game received the project trailers ambiguously. However, the Twisted Metal team includes the writers of the first two Deadpool movies and Zombieland, which gave fans hope.
Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick delivered what they're known for – a hilarious and dynamic project. In Twisted Metal, Anthony Mackie, known for his role as Falcon/Captain America in the MCU, showcases his comedic talent to the fullest.
It's hard not to compare his character, John Doe, to Ryan Reynolds's character – his jokes and caustic comments are very similar to those of Merc with a Mouth.
