Gillian Anderson Has a Perfect Response About Ryan Coogler’s Potential X-Files Reboot

Coogler has recently given a major update about his work on X-Files’ remake, and the original show’s actress now doesn’t seem to have any doubts about her potential coming on board.
Ryan Coogler has now officially moved on to his next project, and it might involve Gillian Anderson too.
The director, who is currently seeing his career thrive thanks to a stunning success of his vampire horror Sinners, is now set to make a reimagining of the 1993 hit sci-fi drama The X-Files which starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in the leading roles.
This time, however, the upcoming reboot might not get away from its main characters, probably finding them sometime after the events of the last season released back in 2002.
Gillian Anderson Might Be Back as Dana Scully in The X-Filed Reboot
Even though the actress hasn’t confirmed anything yet, she previously stated she would be down for an offer and now even encouraged Coogler for an action.
“I spoke to him, and what I said was, ‘If anyone were to do it, I think you are the perfect person and best of luck, call me. At some point, if the phone rings and it’s good and it feels like the right time — perhaps”, Anderson said during her visit to ITV1’s This Morning recently.
In the meantime, it doesn’t seem like Coogler would hesitate to do so in the upcoming weeks, considering how much he’s involved in the entire idea now.
“I’ve been excited about that for a long time, and I’m fired up to get back to it. Some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really f—ing scary. We’re gonna try to make something really great, bro, and really be something for the real X Files fans, and maybe find some new ones”, he previously stated.
What The X-Files Fans Say About Gillian Anderson’s Return in the Reboot
Though both the actress and the show’s fans might be excited and all, there’s still something else for Anderson to consider before saying a definite yes, according to some.
“I can imagine Gilian Anderson would only return if Scully was written well. She seemed completely checked out and pretty adament that she was done with the role after how Chris Carter wrote Scully in the revival. She has a good career resurgence on TV lately and I doubt she would want to again return to the role that made her famous unless there is a significant well-written character arc/progression on top of the direction of the show being fresh (which the last revival wasn't overall)”, BryanDowling93 commented in a show-related thread.
“Really love Coogler so hoping he does something cool with it, I’ve heard the general mythology stuff gets wayy too messy but to me the dynamic of the two characters exploring monster of the week type stories is the best part of the show so if they could figure out new interesting stories that would be incredible”, davidporges added.
