God of War Director Clarifies If The Rock Is Involved In The Series
If it’s not The Rock, who else can it be?
More than a year ago, it was announced that a God of War television series was in development for Amazon Prime Video.
Currently, there are no specific details on the production, and it’s unknown who is going to portray the protagonist. Rumors have been going around about Dwayne The Rock Johnson being in talks.
However, the rumors about The Rock playing Kratos are apparently false. The director of the God of War game Cory Barlog has stated on Twitter that he “never heard anything about this.”
Kratos is a popular character from the God of War video games, and he was played by Christopher Judge in the most recent games. Judge did a great job, winning Best Performance at The Game Awards in 2022, so finding an actor to play Kratos is a big challenge for the series team.
While the rumors of Dwayne The Rock Johnson playing Kratos in a God of War movie have been apparently debunked by the game's director, fans are still eager to see their favorite god-slaying protagonist on the screen. So who could take on this iconic role?
One popular choice among fans is Jason Momoa. With his chiseled physique and commanding presence, he has already proven himself as a fierce warrior in roles such as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones and Aquaman in the DC Extended Universe.
Another possibility is Dave Bautista, who has made a successful transition from WWE wrestler to Hollywood actor with his breakout role as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy. He certainly has the physicality and intensity to bring Kratos to life.
Finally, we can't forget about Gerard Butler. He may not be as young as some of the other actors on this list, but he has already shown that he can play a grizzled warrior with his portrayal of King Leonidas in 300.
Of course, these are just a few examples. There are many talented actors out there who could potentially take on the role of Kratos and do it justice.
Hopefully, when a God of War series does come to fruition, they will find someone who can truly embody this fierce character.
