‘Gremlins’ Zach Galligan Just Gave Us The Update We’ve Waited 30 Years For

The hit dark comedy horror’s threequel might be coming together more than three decades later, and Gremlins’ fans think this is really what they need right now.
Few franchises have remained solid enough to get a continuation that fans can actually be happy about, and Gremlins has just proved itself to be one of those lucky movie series.
Launched back in 1984, the horror-ish franchise somehow turned into forever Christmas classics, making a fortune of more than $200 million in the box office before that.
Gremlins was then followed by a much less inspiring sequel, but all the talks about a possible third movie were helping to cover the film’s controversial spots.
However, it’s been more than three decades since all of those talks started, and it seems like Gremlins’ fans will be getting what they wanted only now.
Zach Galligan Teases ‘Gremlins 3’ Script “Waiting on Mr. Spielberg”
While many have already reconciled with the thought of never seeing Gremlins 3 after all, the lack of news might be due to the team’s decision to work on the movie quietly.
Just when nobody quite expected it, both movies’ leading actor Zach Galligan revealed that the script for Gremlins 3 is already finished and there’s only one person who can now greenlight the whole thing.
“After 35 years, they’ve come up with a script. Warner Bros. is incredibly interested in doing it, apparently it’s waiting on Mr. Spielberg to read it and approve it”, Galligan said during his appearance at Comic-Con Manchester last week, referring to Spielberg’s role as an executive producer for the previous two movies.
He also hinted that the immense success of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was really inspiring to Warner Bros. whose execs wondered whether a threequel would be worth the shot.
‘Gremlins’ Fans Are Ready to Wait For Part 3 As Long As It Takes
It’s safe to say the movie franchise has had a solid fanbase over the decades, with many still believing that even the modern standards aren’t capable of ruining the story, the comeback of which can somehow remind of better times.
“People always talk about movies that should never have become franchises, I think the opposite is true for Gremlins. I always thought it had so much untapped potential and have been wanting more ever since the New Batch”, Redditor Bonvantius suggested in a thread.
Later in the comment, they also added that Gremlins was something that many were “desperately missing for 2 decades” in such a chaotic world.
