Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar Netflix series: cast and 2027 release, 31 years after book one
Some literary heroes wait decades for a screen deal because nobody wants them. This one waited because his creator was guarding him like a dragon on a hoard — and the dragon has finally opened the vault.
Myron Bolitar is coming to Netflix. Deal Breaker, the first novel about the wisecracking sports agent, came out in 1995 — 31 years of waiting, 12 books deep, and now cameras are actually rolling.

Filming runs July through early November in New York and New Jersey, with the series expected to stream in 2027. David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) develops with Kyle Long, and Coben produces — which, given how he talks about this character, was never going to be optional:
"Certainly Myron Bolitar is dear to my heart... he is my most prized possession, and I'm really happy now that it's in the Netflix camp."
The cast, from Riverdale to the Continental
The setup, for the uninitiated: Myron is a former college basketball star whose knee exploded before the NBA could happen, so he reinvented himself as an agent for overlooked athletes — and keeps tripping over dead bodies. The roster:
- Colin Woodell (The Continental) as Myron himself;
- KJ Apa (Riverdale) as Win Lockwood — yes, Archie Andrews as fiction's most elegantly unhinged blue-blood sociopath, a casting choice I will be thinking about until 2027;
- Diane Guerrero (Orange Is the New Black) as Esperanza Diaz, ex-pro-wrestler and the agency's actual spine;
- Jabari Banks as tennis prodigy client Dwayne Richmond and Ra'Mya Latiah Aikens as his fiancée Wanda — a client crisis that smells strongly of Drop Shot, book two, for those keeping score at home;
- Chloe Fineman as a sports reporter, Jamie McShane as an NYPD homicide detective, plus a guest lineup including Bebe Neuwirth, Griffin Dunne, Melissa Benoist and Ben McKenzie.
Why this one is different
Coben has spent a decade turning his standalone thrillers into Netflix's comfort food — eleven series' worth of gasp-per-episode content. But those were one-off puzzles; Myron is the recurring character, the personal one, the franchise. Netflix knows exactly what it's been handed — as VP Jinny Howe put it:
"After a decade and 11 series together, we're honored that Harlan Coben has entrusted Netflix with his most personal and iconic character."
Coben's own summary of the arrangement: "What an honor — not to mention, great fun — it is to partner up at Netflix with legend David E. Kelley." Thirty-one years, one busted knee, and a 2027 due date. The man knows how to structure a long game.
