HBO Exec Teases The White Lotus Will Get Back to Its Roots for Season 4

Mike White’s hit anthology series The White Lotus kicked it off with its new season’s premiere last night, but the show’s creators might already be up to something with another installment.

The series is unlikely to get a fourth season greenlit until the third one finishes its run on April 6, yet White’s feverish drama proved itself a hit too major to wrap it all up so soon.

Meanwhile, The White Lotus’ new leads are about to deal with something horrendous with truly picturesque views of Thailand this time around, but some talks about a potential fourth season are already in, and HBO execs also have a say in this matter.

The White Lotus Might Return to Europe for Season 4

Despite owing it to the first season that started it all in Hawaii, The White Lotus’ season 2 was the most sensational installment so far, bringing the whole drama to an even higher level of absurdity at a luxury resort in Sicily.

However, fans who were missing European unique chic won’t be suffering that long as, according to HBO’s Head of Drama Francesca Orsi, The White Lotus’ destination in the next season might in fact be another famous place in Europe.

“We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon. I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe,” Orsi revealed at the third season’s premiere event.

However, she then added that the production team has no idea about some specific place yet, as there are “some countries on the map that we talked about, but nothing to report on until they actually go locations scouting.”

With the news flushing about the new season’s impressive 92% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes ahead of the first episode’s premiere, some became convinced The White Lotus’ most recent instalment might be the entire anthology’s best one yet, though we still get to see what the remaining episodes have to offer.

However, at the event Orsi also teased many pleasant surprises for fans, praising Mike White’s work and saying that she had no idea how he “could ever top what he’s achieved here.”

She then went on calling The White Lotus’ season 3 “a piece of cinema,” stating that White has “outdone himself exponentially, I’m really blown away by what he’s accomplished with this. Each season always has something to say but there’s a profound quality about this season that feels unlike anything else he’s explored. It’s a tall order for the future.”

The show’s new episodes will now be released one by one every Sunday.
