Hell's Kitchen: Young Guns — where are they now? Two of Ramsay's under-24s traded kitchens for construction and weed marketing
Gordon Ramsay built a whole season around cooks too young to rent a car. Five years later, not all of them are still cooks.
Hell's Kitchen season 20, Young Guns, aired on Fox from May 31 to September 13, 2021, with 18 contestants who were all 24 or younger. The prize was a head chef job at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas, the kind of title most cooks that age won't see for a decade. The careers that followed went in every direction, including two that left the kitchen entirely.
The winner and the runner-up
Trenton Garvey, a 23-year-old executive chef from Union, Missouri, won the season. Megan Gill, a 23-year-old line cook from Denton, Texas, finished second. Here's where both went:
- Trenton Garvey: He took the prize and ran Gordon Ramsay Steak as head chef for a year, then moved on through Paris Las Vegas, a chef de cuisine job at The Bedford by Martha Stewart and the 2023 opening of a Guy Fieri restaurant. He's now executive chef at The Blue Duck, the job he had before he ever went on the show.
- Megan Gill: She became lead line cook at Brook Hollow Golf Club in Dallas, then executive chef at Hotel Marcel until 2025. Last year she was cooking part-time at BLDG in New Haven.
Garvey's route is the funniest one on the list. He won a job in Las Vegas, worked for Ramsay, Martha Stewart and Guy Fieri, and ended up back where he started, now with all three names on his résumé.
The one who went into construction
Kevin Argueta was a 21-year-old line cook from Los Angeles, and his season ended abruptly. In episode 7, he fell far behind on the salmon while his team overcooked the lamb covering for him, and Ramsay threw him out mid-service because he felt Kevin had given up.

He kept cooking for a while after the show, as executive sous chef at Krispy Rice. Then he left the industry. He joined HITT Contracting as a project engineer and has since been promoted to assistant superintendent.
Ramsay ejected Kevin Argueta for falling behind on salmon. Construction schedules are less forgiving, and he's moving up.
The one who went into weed marketing
Brynn Gibson, a 21-year-old line cook from Vienna, Virginia, went much deeper. She made the final four before Ramsay sent her home in episode 14, praising her skill and passion but saying she wasn't yet emotionally strong enough to lead a kitchen. He let her keep her black jacket.
After the show, Gibson started a food blog, The Nugget Box, and ran pop-up dinners. Then she moved into marketing, first as social media and marketing coordinator at Solar Cannabis Co. and later as a field marketing representative. Her most recent title is community representative and administrator.
Everyone else
Most of the class stayed at the stove:
- Antonio Ruiz: Executive chef at The Duchman Family Winery.
- Steven Glenn: Culinary director at UGK.
- Payton Cooper: Executive chef at Par 6 Social.
- Keanu Hogan: Owns his own company, Life Support Foods.
- Jay Smith: Co-owns Sauced and Just Slide and works as a personal chef.
- Kiya Wilheim: Chef at Puccini Restaurant.
Of 18 cooks Ramsay picked for being young and hungry, most are still cooking for a living. Two of them, both 21 when they walked into Hell's Kitchen, decided the kitchen wasn't the career after all.
