It takes a Guy Ritchie movie to beat another Guy Ritchie movie, but will The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare be enough to top the director’s previous works?

Summary:

  • Guy Ritchie ’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will be released on April 19, 2024.
  • The Cavill-led movie will follow the original “Black Ops” organization that fought in WWII.
  • According to star Alex Pettyfer, the film feels like “Sherlock Holmes and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. with a little pinch of Inglourious Basterds.”

Let’s rip off our masks and stop pretending: we’re all here for more Henry Cavill spy action. The man dawns the suits and uniforms all too well, what can we say? Fortunately for the true connoisseurs, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is scheduled for an April 19, 2024 release — so we’ll get more in just over a month.

The real question is, did Guy Ritchie outdo himself once again or did he not?

Speculations and trailers are one thing, but hearing from someone directly involved in a project is different. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare star Alex Pettyfer recently spoke to MovieWeb about the upcoming movie — and described exactly what it’s going to be like and how it will compare with Guy Ritchie’s previous films.

“It’s a wild, wild, wild ride. My favorite films of Guy's, and in general, are Sherlock Holmes and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. This is like meshing these films together with a little pinch of Inglourious Basterds and just a little pinch of Snatch. It's a very good film. If I was not in the film, I would be the first person in the theater buying the ticket,” Pettyfer revealed.

We don’t know about you, but Sherlock Holmes, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and Inglourious Basterds in one movie sounds like a spy war action dream come true to us. We hope Pettyfer’s right, and that’s exactly what we’re going to get.

What Is The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare About?

Guy Ritchie’s upcoming spy war action movie starring Henry Cavill, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is based on Damien Lewis’ book about Winston Churchill's “secret warriors” — a military organization that’s largely considered the predecessor of the modern Black Ops. Set during World War II, the movie will follow the fictionalized version of Operation Postmaster.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare will hit the theaters on April 19, 2024.
