While the main stars of The Big Bang Theory made millions and went on to become huge stars via their connection to the show, Courtney Henggeler (who made just two appearances as Missy Cooper) has had to work hard for her opportunities in the film industry.

Now married to actor turned producer Ross Kohn, Henggeler has appeared in a series of low-budget but highly acclaimed films produced by her husband. And she's currently working alongside Joel Edgerton on the George Clooney- directed movie The Boys in the Boat.

But it hasn't been all plain sailing for her. Gaining her love of acting while at high school in New York, the actor began auditioning for roles immediately after graduating. As a jobbing actor, she secured parts in several TV shows as well as the lead role in B-horror movie The Bog People in 2003 – a part she'd probably rather forget.

Her first appearance in TTBT was in the first season, before the show hit the peak of its popularity, with her second coming in the iconic wedding episode. And even since getting back on our screens as Sheldon Cooper's twin sister, she has struggled to land many roles that require her for more than one episode.

Over the course of her career, Henggeler has had support roles in some pretty major shows such as Criminal Minds and Bones. She also had a recurring role in Mom as Claudia.

In 2018, she successfully auditioned for the part of Amanda in Cobra Kai, starring alongside Ralph Maccio in the Karate Kid sequel.

But with her latest project featuring the legendary George Clooney behind the camera, it appears that she's finally being given a shot at making her name known with fans and across the film industry.

Quite why she has so far failed to really hit the heights is not too clear. She excelled as Missy in her early appearance on TBBT as the attractive sibling of Sheldon who had to contend with his leery, nerdy friends fawning over her. She also landed the role of Flight Attendant in the 2011 rom-com Friends With Benefits – a part which she might have thought would give her a leg up in Hollywood.

At 44 she's now happily married, has two children and is ready to conquer the acting world. And who knows? Maybe in a few years' time the fact that Hollywood star Courtney Henggeler was once Missy Cooper will be just one of those bits of trivia.
