Here’s When You Can Stream ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ At Home

Marvel’s new movie is about to leave theatres after a month in the box office, but don’t expect The Fantastic Four: First Steps to land on streaming right away.
It’s been a pretty long time since Marvel’s new The Fantastic Four movie hit the screens after several months of anticipation, though it definitely hasn’t been as successful as the studio expected it to.
Released worldwide on July 25, The Fantastic Four: First Steps had all the powerhouse to bring Marvel some profit with after a series of box office failures, and boasted of a star-studded leading cast that includes Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
Still, the film didn’t go further than $487 million against its $200 million budget, with Marvel counting on some streaming earnings that would add up to First Steps’ average box office results.
The real question is whether the movie would in fact be coming soon on Disney+.
When Will ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Be on Disney+?
Even though most studios have a rule of waiting one month after a movie’s theatrical release to bringing it to streaming platforms, Disney has been following a different formula for quite some time now.
Since the company usually releases its new films on Disney+ two months after their premiere in theatres, it’s likely that The Fantastic Four: First Steps will arrive on the platform sometime between September 23 and September 30.
This theory gets support from the fact that Marvel’s previous flick, Thunderbolts, premiered on Disney+ on July 1, which is around two months after its theatrical release on May 2.
Why Did ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Fail in Box Office?
- On Rotten Tomatoes, The Fantastic Four: First Steps holds scores of 87% and 91% from critics and audiences
- On IMDb, the movie is rated 7.3/10
Apart from the fact that Marvel’s fans are now used to being patient enough to wait for a movie’s digital release sometime after the premiere in theatre, to many The Fantastic Four: First Steps was quite far from what the promo campaign promised all along.
“Better than other attempts to adapt the F4 to screen virtually by default, but is too safe and light on character or even compelling action to stand out among the MCU’s ever expanding catalogue of content”, user Sam S shared about the movie on Rotten Tomatoes’ website.
“This shouldve been great. It wasnt. It was a Fantastic Bore. This was not Fantastic, at best it was the Semi-Capable Four. The best parts were in the trailer along with any action. The story and plot were weak, at best”, Tony G added.
