The fictional land where Peppa Pig is set has long been a subject of debate among fans, eventually leading to a wild theory about the show’s much more obscure hidden meaning.

For more than two decades that it’s been dominating children TV, Peppa Pig hasn’t lost a grain of its popularity, with time becoming one of favorites among much older audiences too.

Set in the imaginative world of all sorts of talking animals, Peppa Pig frequently sees its eponymous character exploring the land that surrounds her family house, which at some point made many fans wonder what actually served as the base for creating the show’s world.

The answer has always been quite simple, though a viral fan theory suggests things might be much more complicated than that.

Where Does Peppa Pig Live?

As Peppa Pig’s official website confirms, Peppa and her family live in “the little house on a hill” at 3 Astley Street in Peppatown, a fictional town which is supposed to be located not very far from London.

In fact, this also gets a confirmation in one of the episodes of Peppa Pig’s season 5 where Peppa, alongside her friends, visits the capital city.

Additionally, those who have been dying to see Peppa’s life from the inside can also visit her actual house located in Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park in the UK.

The house comes as the principal attraction there and lets the visitors explore the interior of the Pig family’s residence, including bedrooms and the kitchen.

Despite Peppa Pig being mostly about flowers, sunshine and the joy of childhood, the show’s premise wasn’t convincing enough for several fans who got suspicious about some details of the world the characters live in.

Several years ago, a shocking theory proposed by one of the series’ viewers went viral as it implied that Peppa Pig’s world was actually what was left of the Earth after climate change wiped humanity off the face of the planet.

“All the houses in Peppa pig are on top of hills. It's inconvenient so there must be a reason and I think it's that in the not so distant past there had been a huge sea level rise due to climate change. The land is mostly below sea level but the water is kept back by giant dykes. However, as a precaution they spend as little time on the low lying areas as possible and all residents have built mounds to ensure their houses would stay above water if the dykes failed”, Redditor EarthMarsUranus revealed in a show-related thread.

Apart from that, they also suggested that the animals’ ability to speak actually confirms the theory, proving that the post-apocalyptic species evolved to human levels of intelligence.

“There is an episode in which it snowed a lot. And overnight all the snow melts and everything is flooded. But all the houses are intact because they are built on a hill. I think this is another proof for your theory”, DerLetzteWookie agreed.
