The best crime series few know about.

When it comes to crime shows, whether they be true crime, psychological thrillers, or docuseries, Hulu is hardly the first place that comes to mind as a source for them.

Which is a shame, as this particular streaming service has seven incredibly entertaining yet little-known crime shows to offer.

7. Welcome to Chippendales (2022, miniseries, Rotten Tomatoes score 72%)

In this true-crime black comedy, Kumail Nanjiani plays Steve Banerjee, the Indian immigrant who founded the infamous Chippendales male strip joint. Only his entertainment fortune was backed by arson, racketeering and murder for hire.

Viewers warmly embraced the series, praising the production and acting, but criticizing the pacing, and how, near the finale, the plot drifted into pure fiction that contradicted the facts.

6. Candy (2022, miniseries, Rotten Tomatoes score 72%)

Candy is another biographical drama from Hulu that tells the story of how the frenzied pursuit of the American Dream led only to transgression and grief. Jessica Biel plays Candy Montgomery, a simple suburban housewife from Texas. However, such a 'perfect' lifestyle caused psychological fatigue, which led to the murder.

According to viewers, the series is thrilling and true to the facts, and if you are willing to tolerate the bizarre Texas stuff of the 80s, the series is sure to be a pleasant entertainment.

5. Body of Proof (2011, 3 seasons, Rotten Tomatoes score 76%)

If you can't get enough of classic medical dramas that have both crime and comedy, Body of Proof is a good option. The show follows Dr. Megan Hunt, an arrogant former neurosurgeon who now works as a medical examiner after a car accident. Despite its flaws, the show is definitely worth the time spent watching due to its humor and medical accuracy.

4. Trust (2018, 1 season, Rotten Tomatoes score 78%)

Money and power may bring happiness, but they certainly do not bring safety, for every act of greed is followed by more greed on the other side of the law. This is the story of the unluckiest family in the United States, the Gettys, and is a dramatization of the 1973 kidnapping of John Paul Getty III by the Italian Mafia. Despite being written by Simon Beaufoy and directed by the legendary Danny Boyle, Trust has gone largely unnoticed, although many have noted that it is a poignant, gripping drama.

3. Under the Banner of Heaven (2022, miniseries, Rotten Tomatoes score 86%)

Another big-name series that has flown under the radar. The show is based on the non-fiction book Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer, which explores how Mormon fundamentalism is a religious cover for murder. Andrew Garfield plays a Latter-day Saint detective who faces a test of faith when it is revealed that members of the Mormon Church are behind a gruesome murder. However, as many have pointed out, the plot does not cast a shadow on faith and respectfully portrays Mormons.

2. The Bridge (2013, 2 seasons, Rotten Tomatoes score 88%)

The Bridge is a gripping thriller that tells the story of an unlikely duo of detectives: one, working for the US, is neurodivergent, which affects her investigations. The other, a Mexican homicide detective, has a ruthless approach that contradicts the former's methods. Many were devastated by the show's cancellation after two seasons, but it doesn't end on a cliffhanger, giving a rather satisfying finale.

1. The Clearing (2023, miniseries, Rotten Tomatoes score 89%)
