There has been a lot of talk about the superhero fatigue phenomenon in recent years, but is it really a thing?

Superhero movies have been thriving since the early 2000s, reaching new heights in the 2010s, and audiences have loved everything that Marvel, DC, or anyone else has had to offer. However, everything must come to a halt, and it seems that the viewers’ love for those epic superhero adventures is nearing its end.

Attendance for the latest features has been unsatisfactory for some time, and the box office numbers are there to show it. Hollywood has largely attributed the public’s lack of interest to the so-called “superhero fatigue,” which basically means that people are tired of the same old superhero story and want something fresh and exciting.

However, it looks like the Reddit community has something to say on the matter, echoing James Gunn ’s sentiments – it’s not the viewers who are “fatigued,” but the writers of those stories who are struggling to get their creative juices flowing.

More and more directors are saying that they have no control over their own movies, and it shows. Marvel and DC fans have noticed a lack of effort in recent films as if neither the actors nor the directors and writers wanted to be involved in the projects.

It all makes sense when you think about it. Back in the 2000s, Marvel was creating something new – a whole genre of movies about superheroes, but it was unheard of on the scale that Marvel went on to accomplish. Then they just started cranking out carbon copies of their previous successes, and people didn’t like that.

No one knows what the future holds, but James Gunn’s new DCU could still make a difference. The filmmaker has consistently made quality movies for Marvel, so there is hope that he can come up with something original to bring DC into the new era. Who knows, he might even cure the superhero fatigue with the introduction of the new timeline within the DCU.

Are you excited about James Gunn’s new DCU?
