How Did Riddy Die In ‘Kaos’?
What if the mythological world collided with modern life? Kaos is a great example of how that would have worked out. Tragically.
Kaos is a short lived, yet beloved mythological drama and comedy that puts a modern twist on ancient Greek myths. And as we know, there’s no ancient drama without tragedy. The series basically starts with it by killing Riddy.
Riddy is the show's reimagined version of Eurydice, and that’s why her death is sort of inevitable. While according to Greek mythology we might have expected the traditional snake bite, Charlie Covell's adaptation gave us something far more devastating.
Although she dies at the climactic end of episode 1, the tragedy is foreshadowed from the very beginning. During a rather routine grocery run she comes across Cassandra, the prophetic Trojan woman who warns her about the gods stealing human souls and predicts that Riddy will leave her husband Orpheus before the day ends.
Riddy meets her end in a car accident. Right at the time when she's finally decided to take control of her life and leave her suffocating marriage to the world-famous musician Orpheus.
For Riddy, the death is not a tragedy per se, because only in the afterlife she discovers her true voice and purpose, eventually becoming a prophet herself.

Kaos is streaming on Netflix. Created by Charlie Covell, it was released in 2024 but got canceled after season 1.
