This is the kind of movie you watch on a Saturday night, but by Sunday morning, you can't remember the characters' names or the story.

Netflix's new detective thriller, The Woman in Cabin 10, topped the platform's ratings but turned out to be a disappointing, lackluster experience.

Despite its star-studded cast, led by Keira Knightley, and lavish sets, the movie received crushingly low ratings from critics and viewers alike.

This adaptation of Ruth Ware's bestseller shows that even the most promising material can be turned into a predictable, lifeless story.

Struggling with the aftermath of trauma, journalist Lo (Keira Knightley) embarks on a luxury press tour aboard a yacht owned by the influential couple Anne and Richard Bullmer.

The trip is intended to be a relaxing getaway and an opportunity for Lo to write a story about the couple's charitable foundation. However, one night, Lo witnesses a mysterious incident: she hears the sounds of a struggle and a splash overboard.

When she tries to investigate, she is met with the fact that all the passengers and crew on the yacht assure her that nothing happened.

'The Woman in Cabin 10' Has Absolutely Nothing to Offer Viewers

The Woman in Cabin 10 suffers from a fatal lack of originality and depth. Despite its visual impeccability – the cinematography and yacht design are impressive – the movie is empty inside.

With the exception of Lo, the other characters are written as flat archetypes, devoid of motivation and depth. Brilliant supporting actors like Guy Pearce and Hannah Waddingham are reduced to extras, and their talents are wasted.

Even Keira Knightley, who is usually charismatic and expressive, cannot carry the movie alone – her character evokes more irritation than empathy.

'The Woman in Cabin 10' Wants to Be 'Knives Out', but Falls Short in Every Way

Clearly, the creators were trying to replicate the success of Rian Johnson's Knives Out. Both films follow the same formula: a murder in a confined space among the wealthy.

However, while Johnson's movie came to life with witty dialogue, unexpected twists, and vibrant characters, this one devolves into a dull detective checklist.

Intrigue dissolves into predictability, the central mystery is solved too easily, and suspense is replaced by impressive yet empty shots.

The Woman in Cabin 10 neither scares, intrigues, nor surprises – it simply exists, like a glossy yet tasteless postcard.
