How many episodes and seasons of 1923 are there in total? The whole run fits in one long weekend
Harrison Ford's TV western did something almost no hit show manages anymore — it told its story and stopped — and the resulting binge is shockingly manageable.
The complete count: two seasons, 16 episodes), eight per season, all streaming on Paramount+. Episodes run anywhere from 48 minutes to a finale-sized 112, which puts the full Dutton saga at sixteen-odd hours of television — a Friday-night start, two committed days, done by Sunday. In an era when "catching up" on a franchise show means clearing a month, that's practically a courtesy.
The numbers, all of them

- Season 2: 8 episodes, February 23, 2025 – April 6, 2025 (yes, the gap between seasons ran longer than the show's entire runtime)

- The pedigree: prequel to Yellowstone, sequel to 1883, and the third series in Taylor Sheridan's ever-expanding Dutton industrial complex
Why only 16 — and why that's not a cancellation
Nobody pulled the plug. The show was designed from the start as a two-season story): eight episodes to set the trap, eight to spring it. Harrison Ford's Jacob and Helen Mirren's Cara both survive the finale, Spencer's odyssey home finally resolves, and the closing stretch delivers the birth of a baby whose bloodline runs straight to Kevin Costner's John Dutton. Ford — who spent five decades avoiding television before this — sounded almost surprised by how much he liked the material:
"It's probably the densest script and work that I've had a chance to work on in a long, long time."
And of the finale itself:
"I thought it was fantastic. I thought it was very tight storytelling, and I was absolutely delighted with it."
The 1944 of it all
The ending doubles as a handoff: Sheridan has teased 1944 as the next generational chapter, following the kids 1923 spent two seasons positioning. Asked whether he'd show up in it, Ford gave the only answer an aging legend playing a surviving patriarch could give:
"I'm still alive. I'd be interested in coming back if Taylor asks nice."
So: 16 episodes, both seasons on Paramount+, and a weekend is enough. The homework only expands if you let 1883, Yellowstone, and whatever Sheridan announces next onto the syllabus.
