How many episodes will there be of Outlander: Blood of My Blood? The finale already has a title and a date
Starz published the whole season 2 schedule before the premiere aired, down to the closing episode's title. That makes this one of the rare ongoing shows where the end of the run is a matter of public record rather than guesswork.
Twenty episodes exist across the series so far: 10 in season 1 and 10 in season 2. Season 1 ran August 8 to October 10, 2025, opening with a two-episode drop ("Providence" and "S.W.A.K.") and closing on "Something Borrowed," with a skip week pushing the finale a Friday later than a straight weekly count would suggest. Season 2 runs 10 straight Fridays with no gap.

What the finale title points at
"Twelfth Night" is the twelfth night of Christmas, January 5, and in 18th-century Scotland it sat at the front of a year that mattered enormously to this show's timeline. Showrunner Matthew B. Roberts has framed the back half of the season around the 1715 Jacobite Rising and its consequences for the two couples the series is built on — Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser in Scotland, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp displaced from WWI England.
The rising "will have major effects on everybody involved," Roberts said of the season's endpoint.
Whether there's more after that
Nothing is ordered. Season 2 was greenlit in June 2025, two months before season 1 even premiered, which suggests Starz has been comfortable moving early on this one. A third season has not been announced.
Context matters here: the flagship Outlander finished for good on May 15, 2026 after eight seasons, adapting Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone plus pieces of Diana Gabaldon's unpublished tenth novel. The prequel is now the only Outlander on the air.
Season 1 landed at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 70 on Metacritic — strong enough that a cancellation would be a surprise, not strong enough that a renewal is automatic.
Developed by Roberts and shot in Scotland since January 2024, with Doune Castle doing duty as Castle Leoch again. Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy play Jamie's parents; Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine play Claire's.
For the record: that's 20 episodes of prequel against 101 of the original series. The parents have some catching up to do.
