How old is Roxy in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation?
Short answer: it depends which Rudeus you're counting.
Roxy Migurdia is the reason half the Mushoku Tensei fandom has trust issues about character ages. She is a head shorter than everyone, braided, permanently sleepy-eyed, and by the show's own math, old enough to have refinanced a mortgage.
Roxy is a Migurd, a long-lived demon race whose bodies stop changing around fourteen and who live to roughly two hundred. Her real age is right there in the lore: she was born in year 373 of the in-world calendar, thirty-four years before Rudeus.
The math
- She arrives at the Greyrat house to tutor a three-year-old Rudeus: she's 37.
- The Teleport Incident scatters everyone when Rudeus is 10: she's about 44.
- Season 3, with Rudeus in his late teens, married and a father: she's around 50.
- Migurd lifespan: about 200. She's a quarter of the way through.
She is older than Paul. She is older than Zenith. She is older than the concept of Rudeus.
The loophole
Here's the part the fandom loves. Rudeus's previous life ended at 34. Add that to his current age and Roxy and Rudeus come out the same age, a detail the fan wiki notes almost primly. The student-marries-teacher plot comes with its own built-in defense brief.
Why it's coming up now
Season 3 premiered in early July with a double episode and is running 27 episodes across two cours, the longest stretch the anime has attempted. Roxy is a co-wife and a new mother, and the series is leaning harder than ever on the gap between how she looks and how she carries herself.
That gap is the whole performance for Konomi Kohara, who also voices Chika Fujiwara in Kaguya-sama. Kohara has said the direction was to keep Roxy "a bit more well-behaved" than her louder roles: mature and steady as a teacher, quietly clumsy as a person. Fifty years old, five feet tall, mortgage fully paid.
