What if Vincent misunderstood his mission and was supposed to kill Mia instead of escorting her? This theory will make you look at Pulp Fiction from a whole new angle.

Every Quentin Tarantino film is an event destined to leave its mark on the history of cinema and the minds of its viewers. Fans scrutinize scenes, characters, and millions of pop culture references in the director's films.

And, of course, they come up with their own theories, some of which turn out to be true, some end up being hilarious assumptions, and some being just crazy speculations that Tarantino himself enjoys.

All fans of Pulp Fiction have heard numerous theories about what's actually in the suitcase, but recently fans came up with another theory that's too good to ignore.

“Take Care of Her” Meant Killing Mia, Not Taking Her Out

What if Vincent's real mission wasn't just to entertain Mia, but to kill her? One compelling theory claims that Marsellus Wallace's order to “take care of her” was a death sentence, and Vincent just misunderstood everything.

Marsellus' phrasing is key – when Vincent tells Jules about the assignment, Jules mimics a gunshot and immediately interprets it as a hit. Vincent, however, takes it literally.

Vincent Could Misunderstand the Assignment Due to His Own Arrogance

Throughout the film, we understand what kind of subordinate Vincent is – he gets the assignment, doesn't ask any questions, and then comes back with a result that's not at all what you expected.

There's no denying that Vincent is not the brightest man, and an arrogant one at that, so when he gets an order from Marsellus, he just goes and does it without question – the way he understood it.

Marsellus Ordered Mia's Death Because She Was Unfaithful

Moreover, Marcellus is extremely jealous – he threw a man out of a window for giving Mia a foot massage.

And when Mia denies rumors of cheating, her smirk suggests the truth.

In the criminal world, a disloyal spouse isn't just a betrayal – it's a weakness. For a crime boss like Marsellus, eliminating Mia may have been a cold but calculated move to preserve his reputation.

Marsellus Left Town to Provide Himself With an Alibi

And what about Marsellus leaving town that same night? He could have had his dirty criminal dealings, but his departure would also be the perfect alibi if Vincent did kill Mia.

At the same time, Marsellus warned Mia of Vincent's arrival – perhaps to get her to let him into the house so the killer could do a clean job.

The irony of this theory is striking: had Vincent failed to save Mia from an overdose, he would have done exactly what Marsellus asked of him.
