Is 1923 on Netflix US? Where to watch Yellowstone prequel
You finished Yellowstone, you knocked out 1883, and now the Netflix search bar is gaslighting you about the existence of Harrison Ford's cowboy era. Deep breath. Here's the map.
The short version: if you're in the United States, 1923 is not on Netflix. It never has been. Both seasons live exclusively on Paramount+, because the show is a Paramount+ original and the one thing that service guards like the crown jewels is Taylor Sheridan content.
Your confusion, however, is completely earned. Netflix does carry 1923 — just not for Americans. In July 2025 the first season landed on Netflix across the UK, most of Europe and Latin America, while the US was surgically carved out of the deal. The logic is cold and simple: hook international viewers on season 1, then funnel them to Paramount+ for the second and final season.
So, the cheat sheet:
- US: Paramount+ only, both seasons;
- UK, Europe, Latin America: season 1 on Netflix, everything on Paramount+;
- Yellowstone itself, in the US: Peacock — a different licensing deal and a different headache entirely.
And what you're getting for that subscription is genuinely the starriest corner of the Sheridan-verse: Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton, holding the Montana ranch together through drought, Prohibition and a truly punishing quantity of grief across two seasons.
Ford, it turns out, understood the assignment on a molecular level. His Jacob, he told Rotten Tomatoes, is a man watching the modern world close in:
"The approaching influx of population is a threat to his way of life. He can see it coming, and it's coming like a train."
Mirren, meanwhile, has the whole show's thesis in one line about ranch life: "they are the slaves to nature and everything."

So no, it's not on your Netflix, and yes, that's annoying, and no, a VPN sermon will not be delivered here. It's one more subscription in exchange for Indiana Jones on horseback and Helen Mirren with a shotgun. You already know what you're going to do.
