Wednesday’s brand new second season gives a controversial character development to Emma Myers’ Enid, but some say this was expected to happen all along.

It’s been a long time since Netflix’s Wednesday was on the screens last, but some fans still can’t get used to things in the series changing just as quickly as the time passes by.

Tim Burton’s hit horror-ish show has just returned with the first half of its second season after almost three years since the first instalment’s premiere.

Wednesday’s new season picks the story up right when Nevermore Academy accepts its students back after summer holidays.

Though it seems like three months of no school didn’t have much impact on Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday, the break certainly changed Emma Myers’ Enid, and now fans can’t decide whether it’s for better or for worse.

Enid’s Character Change Is Annoying, ‘Wednesday’ Fans Say

It was pretty clear that the experience of trying to survive while defending the school in the first season would definitely have its toll on most of the characters, including on Enid, but few people expected such changes to be this radical.

As some fans have complained so far, Enid has lost her charm now that she’s one of big celebrities in the school on par with Wednesday, and, apart from that, has become a bit annoying and toxic towards others.

Particularly, some even felt for Ajax who has been showing Enid signs of liking her all along, but all she did was just ghosting him.

”Wolfing out changed her so much. I honestly would’ve preferred if she hadn’t wolfed out because that would keep her interesting, and there are so many ways the writers could run with that storyline. I also hate how she did Ajax”, Redditor CreepyFeeling9526 ranted in a thread.

“People sure love to justify cheating. Enid didn’t even tell Ajax the truth and moved on without him knowing anything”, BareWolfy chimed in in another thread.

Other Fans See a Clear Reason for Why Enid Has Changed So Much

Just like some of Wednesday’s fans accused Enid of ruining the entire new season for them, others came to the character’s defense, saying that the only reason why all of this is happening to Enid is just because she’s going through the teenage stage.

“She's decided to become a whole new person. That's kind of what teenage girls do at the start of a new school year, and it's especially applicable for her because of how many life-changing experiences she's had. Yes, what she did to Ajax was kind of shitty but again, THESE ARE TEENAGERS”, EmberJuliet explained.

“Her breaking up with Ajax without telling him to be with the popular wolf kid WHILE being mad that Wednesday isnt communicating with her is the most teenage girl thing she could have done”, Toffye added.

“She's still young and she's growing up and changing. She's still the same Enid with her perky personality and stuff but she's also growing up. People change. It'd be stupid not to have her change”, beekee404 wrote.

Wednesday’s season 2 volume 1 is currently available for streaming on Netflix while volume 2 will arrive on September 3.
