Amid insiders fighting actor representatives online, what’s really happening with Depp and Sweeney’s alleged movie — and does it even exist?

Summary:

  • Recently, famous insider Jeff Sneider shared that Depp and Sweeney would co-star in a thriller called Day Drinker.
  • The actress’ representatives denied the rumor, but the insider called them out on lying, which was a risky move.
  • For now, it’s safer to assume that Sweeney isn’t joining Johnny Depp in his next big-screen journey, whatever that might be.

Inside every Hollywood movie fan’s heart, live two wolves: one is waiting for official information from studios, and the other reads insider scoops and wants to believe in them. Insiders often reveal sensational news long before any major confirmation — but just as often, their information proves to be a complete attention-grabbing bust.

What’s the case with the notorious Johnny Depp & Sydney Sweeney movie rumor?

Where Did Depp and Sweeney’s Day Drinker Come From?

As often happens, the whole near-scandal began with one particular insider — or, should we say, Insneider. Jeff “In” Sneider. The notorious Hollywood scooper recently reported that a Johnny Depp and Sydney Sweeney movie was in development. It was called Day Drinker and written by Alan Trezza, Sneider said.

But Sydney Sweeney’s representatives were quick to shut down these rumors. They reached out to the popular X (formerly Twitter) account DiscussingFilm.

“A representative for Sydney Sweeney has confirmed with us that she will not be starring in Day Drinker alongside Johnny Depp, despite recent reports,” the account reported.

The Insider Still Claims He Was Right

Despite the open denial from Sydney Sweeney’s reps, Jeff Sneider doesn’t give up; if anything, he goes into offensive and doubles down on his information while also calling the actress’ team off on lying!

“After ignoring calls on Friday, [Sydney’s] reps sure are working overtime on a holiday weekend. They said I ‘created a mess.’ Well, guess what? Totally fake stories don’t create messes; REAL stories do. Sorry that I ruined the big Cannes announcement! Maybe call back next time?” Sneider wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Admittedly, there are now two careers on the line: Jeff Sneider’s career as a reliable insider and Johnny Depp’s career as a major movie star. Ever since his notorious trial against Amber Heard ended in his favor, Depp hasn’t been reinstated in Hollywood; a movie with Sydney Sweeney, the young A-lister, could have really helped him.

But for now, the official version stands: there is no Sweeney in Depp’s Day Drinker, and we’re not even sure about the movie itself.
