Is Landman a Yellowstone Spinoff? Connections, Cast Overlap & Season 2 Update

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone franchise has so far spawned two spinoffs with more to come, but you shouldn’t count Landman here. Here’s how far these shows stand from each other.
Taylor Sheridan ’s vast Western TV legacy will soon continue with Landman’s upcoming season 2, delving into the ramifications of Tommy Norris taking on the position of the M-Tex president.
The series, which is currently one of Sheridan’s biggest hits to-date, might somehow seem familiar to Yellowstone ’s fans who are ready to jump to a new Wild West drama.
However, even with Yellowstone’s universe expanding as quickly as possible, Landman isn’t quite something to be directly connected to Yellowstone — they still have something (and someone) in common though.
Is Landman Connected to Yellowstone?
There’s no indication of that, even though they might look somewhat similar at first.
Both shows are following two different premises, with Yellowstone taking a look at the Duttons and their constant fight for the land they own, while Landman centres on a completely different character, oil businessman Tommy Norris who has to find balance between running a big company and dealing with his family issues.
On top of that, Yellowstone and Landman’s events don’t even unfold in the same place, as the Duttons’ ranch is located in Montana and Tommy Norris’ business operates in Texas.
However, there’s a minor connection you could have noticed right away, even if both stories have nothing to do with each other.
Yellowstone and Landman Casting Crossovers, Explained
Even though these shows are about completely different stories, they do share some of their actors.
The first example that comes to mind is Michelle Randolph who in Yellowstone’s prequel series 1923 and in Landman portrays Elizabeth Dutton and Ainsley Norris respectively.
James Jordan, who in Landman stars as Tommy’s goofy friend Dale, could also be seen in both Yellowstone and its other prequel 1883, playing Steve Handon and Cookie respectively.
Finally, 1883’s actor Sam Elliott has been recently confirmed to get a role in Landman’s season 2, though nothing about his part has been unveiled yet.
When Is Landman Season 2 Being Released?
So far, there’s no saying when exactly Landman’s new instalment will be dropped on Paramount+.
Since the production was started a couple of months ago, it’s now believed that the second season will arrive on streaming sometime next year.
