‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Creators Promise You Will Be “Destroyed” by Season 1 Finale
HBO’s new adaptation of Stephen King’s “It” has already shaken its audiences with the first two episodes, but much worse in It: Welcome to Derry is yet to come.
Things have been unfolding in pretty unexpected and shocking ways in It: Welcome to Derry’s first season so far, though you better be prepared for the final episode coming to HBO Max on December 14.
The new TV series is inspired by Stephen King’s hit horror novel “It” and significantly expands the universe of Pennywise the Clown who returned to the small town of Derry more than once to haunt its citizens.
So far, It: Welcome to Derry’s season 1 is yet to release its third episode after episode 2’s early premiere on October 31, but things are about to swirl even more after that shocking opening sequence and Bill Skarsgård’s eventual appearance in the show.
‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Creators Tease “Very Emotional Ending” in Season 1

Despite having only started, the show is planning at least two more seasons and, considering its instant hit status on HBO Max, will likely be renewed for as many new instalments as Andy and Barbara Muschietti ever wish.
Since the story isn’t yet over in the first season’s finale, It: Welcome to Derry’s viewers might expect some kind of cliffhanger wrapping the instalment, but Andy Muscietti says the first chapter of the series will still close on an emotional note anyway.
“I think it’s a very emotional ending. There’s a feeling of closure. Of course, everybody that knows the movies knows that IT is alive in 1989, but there is a trick. There’s something that happens and it’s related to the reason we’re telling the story backwards. Nothing is what it looks like in this world, let me put it that way”, the co-creator revealed in a recent interview with Collider.
When asked about how they think the audiences will feel about the season’s ending, the show’s other co-creator Barbara Muschietti simply replied: “Destroyed”.
‘It: Welcome to Derry’ Will Get a Bigger Storyline Arc in Seasons 2 and 3

Right now, the show is yet to reveal why its plot is going backwards in time, starting with 1962 and ending with 1908 in season 3, but there’s definitely something even more atrocious happening in It: Welcome to Derry’s further instalments.
According to Andy Muscietti, there has always been a reason for him and his team to make specifically three seasons, as well as to not create it in the story’s chronological order, with the co-creator revealing that there’s also “a very clear end goal of a bigger arc”.
“There is satisfaction at the end of Season 1, but there is definitely a question mark at the end of it. I cannot spoil it yet, but you will meet it in episode eight and then decide if you want to see more”, Muscietti added.
It: Welcome to Derry’s episode 3 is coming to HBO Max on November 9.
