Based on Robyn Carr's novels of the same name, Virgin River has taken Netflix by storm.

A huge part of its success is, of course, the main favorite couple – Jack and Mel. They seemed to be meant for each other from the beginning and for many viewers, they are relationship goals.

As one would expect, it wouldn't be a romantic drama without some endearing lines and compliments, which is also what makes the pair so lovable. However, even though fans adore the leading couple, they think Jack's cheesy compliments are becoming too over the top.

Jack Sheridan, who's portrayed by actor Martin Henderson, is a former Marine and current local bar owner in Virgin River. He's a strong and dependable character who has faith in the goodness of everybody, which makes him likable. Although he has a troubled past that haunts him and makes it difficult for him to fully open up to others, he shows his soft and emotional side when he's with Mel.

Though it's undoubtedly great to see a man treating a woman he cares about with chivalry and in such a loving manner, fans of the show are pointing out that some of his romantic phrases have become too much and make them cringe.

They specifically mention compliments such as "Have I told you today how beautiful you are?" and "You are the most compassionate human being." Viewers also add they don't mind him expressing his love for her but the seemingly random phrases are a total overkill in their opinion.

These lines are great every once in a while, and the show probably wouldn't be the same if there were no lovey-dovey moments at all. The main theme of the series is love, after all. But while it may be popular among the romantics, the show's way of portraying a couple in love may not be to everyone's liking. In fact, some fans think it's that bad that they're questioning how Henderson himself delivers those with a straight face. They also find that this makes Mel and Jack's conversations sound unnatural and forced, which makes them doubt their chemistry, as it doesn't seem genuine.

Needless to say, all viewers have different preferences and experiences that they can relate to the show. Some may find that it's an accurate depiction of love, while others find it irritating. But is it the case of poor writing or simply viewers having different opinions?
