Jensen Ackles Brings Back Dean Winchester Vibes in Prime Video's New Show: "Familiar Taste"

Supernatural might be long gone at this point, but Jensen Ackles isn’t ready to let it pass just yet.

The actor, who starred in the hit horror fantasy drama series as Dean Winchester, has been recently teasing the upcoming reunion with Supernatural’s Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins in the future season 5 of Prime Video’s The Boys, which is also helmed by Supernatural’s showrunner Eric Kripke.

However, it might not be the only thing the show’s diehard fans can be excited about, as Ackles’ collection of characters is getting a Dean Winchester-inspired detective coming straight from Prime Video’s upcoming crime drama show.

Jensen Ackles Teases ‘Supernatural’ Vibes in Prime Video’s ‘Countdown’

The streamer’s future crime drama series titled Countdown stars Ackles in the leading role as LAPD detective Mark Meachum who suddenly becomes involved in a mission alongside undercover agents from various law enforcement agencies that try to find a Homeland Security officer’s murderer.

Eventually, the investigation unravels some dark secrets about a major conspiracy, prompting the agents to race against time protecting the entire city.

Even though the premise sounds nothing like Supernatural whatsoever, Ackles thinks there might still be something for the hit show’s fans to look for in Countdown.

“There's probably going to be some familiarity from that fandom with this guy. It's not like I'm going so opposite spectrum with this character. He's going to be a familiar taste, which is good. I like doing that. I mean, I played Dean for 15 years. I loved playing that kind of a character. And I think this guy is in the vein of that, just with a completely different set of circumstances”, the actor revealed in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

When Will ‘Countdown’ Premiere?

Countdown is currently expected to premiere on Prime Video on June 25.
