It's definitely not a Killing Eve replacement, but it may help you get over it.

No matter what you think of the Killing Eve finale, you can't deny that the thriller show is a true gem of the crime genre, and Jodie Comer's character Villanelle definitely played a large role in its success.

Villanelle was unpredictable, dangerous, charismatic and even mesmerizing in the mix of her villainous nature and seemingly "fun" personality. Killing Eve has been over for two years, and now that it landed on Netflix, it may be painful to dive back into the show's universe only to know that it's finished (and not necessarily in a great way, but that's a whole other story).

Well, Jodie Comer will soon return to our screens in yet another crime drama, so the Killing-Eve-shaped hole in your heart may be filled — even though her role is drastically different this time.

Comer, joined by Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, returns to crime genre in her new movie The Bikeriders that follows a Chicago outlaw motorcycle club. Here, there will be violence and organized crime, but Comer is not the one in the spotlight, enjoying it.

This time, it's her on-screen partner, Benny, portrayed by Butler.

What Is The Bikeriders About?

The story focuses on the Vandals MC — a fictional motorcycle club that was initially founded as some kind of a chosen family for local outcasts. However, it only takes it a decade to slowly transform into an organized crime band — and even threaten the way of life of its original founder, portrayed by Tom Hardy.

Austin Butler's Benny is the one who fights his demons and ultimately loses, descending into violence and not able to stop. Unlike Villanelle, Comer's Kathy will try her best to actually get her romantic partner back to the high road.

Benny, in his turn, will have to choose between the club and Kathy.

The movie already has an impressive 83% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Comer's role is highlighted as a great opportunity for the actress to prove her range.

"Jodie Comer roars into her first Great American Film Role. And in his finest effort yet, Mud director Jeff Nichols has given her quite the machine to ride on," writes Nick Howells of London Evening Standard.

Still, The Bikeriders gives more spotlight to Butler, who has recently shined in Elvis and Dune.

It was pretty challenging for the movie to finally make its way to the audience. Initially premiering at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023 and scheduled for a December 2023 theater release, The Bikeriders got delayed due to the Hollywood strikes.

Now, however, it has all the chances to be the fresh summer hit, as Focus Features acquired the film from New Regency and scheduled it for June 21, 2024.
