The most beloved actor is obviously very different when it comes to working with him.

Summary:

  • Johnny Depp is seemingly making his way back to acting and Hollywood after his scandalous trial from 2022, but the rumors circulating about his latest movie don’t make a nice comeback for the actor.
  • The numerous speculations about Depp’s 2023 film have recently been confirmed by its director.
  • According to her, Depp’s weird behavior affected not only her personally, but the entire crew.

After months of a scandalous trial with ex-wife Amber Heard that almost ruined his entire career, Johnny Depp is slowly getting back on track — the actor has been recently working on his directorial feature Modí, and last year marked his appearance in Maïwenn’s Jeanne du Barry, Depp’s first acting work since the trial ended.

Despite having received an honorary premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, the film caused a lot of controversy and rumors — but now most of them have seemingly been confirmed by the director herself.

According to Maïwenn, who got to direct Jeanne du Barry while also having one of the leading roles there, working with the world’s most famous actor isn’t that much of a delight.

Even ahead of the movie’s premiere in Cannes in 2023 French journalists were bringing in the film production’s unflattering details about Depp usually being late for work or not even showing up on set at all.

The director herself has recently stated that all these rumors were in fact true as she never made it to getting along with Depp. On top of that, Maïwenn revealed that the whole crew was scared of the actor as he was known for his specific kind of humor that would provoke an absolutely unpredictable reaction from his part.

The director’s words are also confirmed by her previous revelations about the fact that on set of her own movie she wasn’t allowed to knock on the door of Depp’s dressing room and, when she eventually had to do it in spite of this interdiction, the actor’s reaction wasn’t very favorable.

Maïwenn then clarified that her relationships with Johnny Depp haven’t improved ever since the shooting was wrapped up and she still can’t communicate with him, despite describing the actor as “a huge genius”, but from “another world”.

The French director’s failed experience of working with the proclaimed actor may be due to the fact that she had embarked on all this right in the heat of the moment when Depp’s trial came to its end.

Despite a relatively positive outcome for Depp himself that didn’t result in his career crash, the whole mess has many fans thinking that maybe a couple of project-free years would be nice for him after all.
