One of the last classic shonen series takes its rightful title.

There are an indecent number of anime and manga genres, but one of the most popular is shonen. There is a lot of violence, the action is more dynamic, and the pauses between battles are diluted with humor or fleeting drama –all for the sake of catchy visuals.

It is not surprising that in recent years, anime in the shonen genre has taken the top spots among the most popular titles – last year it was Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen Was Replaced As the Most In-Demand Anime

Recently the results of the annual Global Demand Awards were released – last year, it was Jujutsu Kaisen that took first place. But this year, it was displaced by another shonen. And no, it is not Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man or One Piece.

The new most in-demand anime is My Hero Academia, and this series totally deserves that title.

My Hero Academia Is One of the Last Classic Shonen Titles

The first chapter of the manga by Kohei Horikoshi was published in Weekly Shоnen Jump on July 7, 2014 and brought him worldwide fame. In the future, My Hero Academia may take on historical significance, as it has every chance of becoming the swan song of all classic shonen.

Modern manga and anime such as Dr. Stone and The Promised Neverland take a more complex approach, and against their background the struggles of young heroes seems a bit outdated.

But My Hero Academia has everything for people who have grown up and can't stop loving the Big Three – Naruto, Bleach and One Piece.

What Is My Hero Academia About?

The plot revolves around high school student Izuku Midoriya. In this universe, 80% of the population has some kind of superpower, which is called a Quirk.

Midoriya was born with no superpowers, but this did not stop him from dreaming of being a hero. He was inspired by the strongest hero in the world – All Might, who saves the world with a smile on his face.

One day, fate brings him together with his idol, when in a huge crowd, only Izuku decides to help the child. All Might decides to make him his successor, endowing him with his unique Quirk. Thus, Midoriya gets the chance to enter the U.A. Academy, which trains future heroes.
