Just 4 Ingredients: No Eggs or Yeast Needed for the Crispiest Homemade Spanish Churros
The best dessert your family will ask for again and again will be ready in just 20 minutes.
Every country in the world can boast of its own traditional desserts that might have already conquered other continents or are about to do so. When it comes to Spain’s famous churros, there’s hardly anyone who will say no to the crispy cream sticks that are usually served with a cup of delicious hot chocolate.
If you’ve ever had a thought of cooking churros yourself at home, this is your sign to actually do so — especially since it’s way easier than you think.
Ingredients: 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of water, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, orange zest to taste, vegetable oil for frying.
Bring some water to a boil, add salt and orange zest, then immediately remove the zest so that the aroma remains but doesn’t become bitter.
Pour the hot water into the flour and quickly mix until you have a thick, firm dough without lumps that holds its shape easily.
Place the dough in a pastry bag or piping bag and pipe strips or shaped pieces onto a surface greased with oil or lined with parchment paper.
Heat the oil in a deep skillet and fry the pieces until they are golden brown on all sides and crispy.
Place the finished churros on paper towels to remove excess oil, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
