Kaley Cuoco will certainly want to be a part of The Big Bang Theory reunion, and the prospect of that is a very realistic one.

Summary

  • Since the end of TBBT, Kaley Cuoco has been involved in a variety of both successful and failed projects, but the actress has never experienced her former glory.
  • With the wave of popularity of the franchise, as well as the trend of reviving iconic series, a Big Bang Theory reunion is quite realistic.
  • All in all, it's very likely that Cuoco will return to our favorite show.

Nearly 17 years after its premiere on CBS, The Big Bang Theory franchise continues to expand with new generations of viewers and even more spin-offs. Young Sheldon keeps on rolling: while the latest episodes have been a little less than brilliant so far, the ratings for the new season are still as high as ever, as we reach a spectacular conclusion to the story of Sheldon Cooper's upbringing.

What's more, creator trio Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland have no intention of leaving the TBBT universe for good, as CBS recently greenlit another spin-off that will focus on the story of Georgie Cooper and Mandy McAllister. All of this speaks to a high level of audience interest as well as investment from the creators themselves.

In this context, the possibility of the original series, The Big Bang Theory, getting a revival or brief reunion doesn't seem out of the question – after all, fans and cast managed to pull off something similar in the case of another popular sitcom, Community, with a feature-length movie planned for this year or next. But does the cast, especially Kaley Cuoco, who has had little to no involvement with TBBT since it ended, want this to happen? All signs indicate that it's more than possible.

The Last Few Years in Cuoco's Acting Career

After The Big Bang Theory ended its 12-season run on CBS in 2019, Kaley Cuoco experienced the ups and downs of her career. Her acting skills were incredibly praised after she voiced Harley Quinn in the critically acclaimed TV series of the same name. She also received critical praise for her performance in the dark comedy The Flight Attendant, but unfortunately the project was canceled by Amazon.

As for feature films, the ones she has starred in in recent years, like The Man from Toronto, Meet Cute and Role Play, have received mixed to negative reviews.

One of her most notable projects, however, is the series Based on a True Story, for which she also serves as executive producer, but although it was positively received, has rather modest ratings and reviews. All this suggests that Cuoco's participation in the project might prove to be very relevant, as it will revive the former interest in the actress' work.

The Actress on a Possible Reunion

Although Cuoco never appeared in person on Young Sheldon after the end of TBBT, unlike Mayim Bialik, you can hear her voice once in the series, as we heard Parsons as the narrator of the series or Simon Helberg as Howard, who acted as narrator in one of the episodes of the fifth season. However, Cuoco did not play Penny, but Pool Water in Sheldon's nightmare, but this suggests that the actress is still interested in collaborating.

In addition, the actress has been in and out of talks about the possibility of a reunion.

'When I watched [the Friends reunion], I definitely thought, I would love to do that one day. I would love to do that with our show,' she told Variety back in 2021.

Why It Could Be More than Fans Dream

As we've said before, many once-popular ensemble-cast shows that are now considered iconic have had or are headed for reunions, as was the case with Friends and will now be the case with Community. Given the enduring popularity of TBBT, it's probably only a matter of time before Lorre, Molaro and Holland sit down with our favorite cast members for another round of table readings.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for a new episode of Young Sheldon's seventh season on April 4 on CBS and Paramount+.
