Though she was still this flop’s best part.

Summary:

  • Kate Winslet ’s latest project, HBO’s political satire The Regime, didn’t do that well with critics despite everyone’s great expectations and ended up with only 57% on Rotten Tomatoes.
  • Though the show’s poor performance didn’t affect Winslet’s career in any way, she has yet another big project that may make everyone forget about the HBO’s flop with her in the leading role.
  • The upcoming movie comes as a part of a famous franchise that so far managed to gross more than $5 billion in the box office.

The stakes were quite high for HBO’s The Regime with Kate Winslet in the leading role. Though the witty political satire with Winslet’s versatile dramatical performance and even the appearance of some more famous actors looked more than promising, it ended up with quite a mediocre result of only 57% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now that the show is over with 6 episodes in total, it can’t be said that The Regime’s unexpected failure somehow managed to shake Kate Winslet’s remarkable acting career — not in the slightest, given that the actress was most likely the show’s best part and its biggest upside.

One more weighty argument in this case is that Winslet’s next project comes as something much grander — and that will definitely override The Regime’s poor performance.

Back in 2022, Kate Winslet reunited with the Titanic director James Cameron for the second film of his epic sci-fi saga Avatar — and when the third film was confirmed to be in the works, Winslet’s comeback was pretty obvious as well.

Avatar 3 won’t hit cinemas until December 2025 at least, but the upcoming film’s chances to gross yet another billion accompanied by the critics’ accolades are quite high.

Over the years since the first movie’s release back in 2009 Avatar’s franchise managed to garner more than $5 billion in the box office — and that’s the results of only two movies combined.

Judging by Cameron’s far-reaching plans for expanding the Avatar’s universe up to 5 films (or maybe more), the franchise will need several more piggy banks to refill with the box office wealth.

The third movie also gives fans hope to see Winslet’s character Ronal being put in the forefront given that she didn’t appear that much in The Way of Water, the previous movie — thus letting the actress once again highlight her acting abilities and contribute to the future film’s critical approval after The Regime’s disheartening results.
