6 Unfairly Forgotten ‘Young Sheldon’ Characters That Deserved So Much Better

Young Sheldon gave us lots of funny and sweet moments between the Coopers and their friends. However, not every character had the chance to shine.
Though Sheldon Cooper is the main character in Young Sheldon, many lovable side characters popped up but never received the development they deserved. These 6 forgotten faces had so much potential and disappeared without much explanation (and yes, I'm still kind of mad about it).
1. Dr. John Sturgis
Personality traits: funny, smart, socially awkward.
Dr. John Sturgis is one of the quirkiest characters on Young Sheldon. As Meemaw's boyfriend and Sheldon's mentor, he brought genius-level intelligence and social awkwardness to the function.
However, after he broke up with Meemaw, his role was reduced to occasional appearances that never again reached his initial level of importance.
2. Tam Nguyen
Personality traits: clever, patient, pessimistic.
Tam Nguyen was Sheldon's first best friend at high school. Despite their differences, Tam's patience with Sheldon kept them together. Unfortunately, after the first couple of seasons, Tam's appearances became increasingly rare.
3. Veronica Duncan
Personality traits: complex, misunderstood.
Veronica was Georgie's major crush who actually had one of the most interesting character arcs on the show. She went from being a popular girl to finding religion (thanks to Mary). But just when things were getting good between her and Georgie, she basically vanished.
4. June
Personality traits: sarcastic, funny.
June is Dale’s ex-wife and an unexpected friend of Meemaw. She discovered Connie's gambling room, but instead of snitching, she got involved (and then the writers forgot about her).
5. Paige Swanson
Personality traits: brilliant, emotionally complex.
Paige was a child prodigy who gave Sheldon a run for his money. While she matched his brainpower, her parents’ messy divorce sent her spiraling. The show teased us with something more for her, but then she just disappeared.
I really wanted to see how her friendship with Missy could have developed. And those showdowns with Sheldon had so much potential.
6. Ira Rosenbloom
Personality traits: charming, straightforward, mature.
Ira was that furniture store owner who was in love with Meemaw. He finally caught her eye after her breakup with Dr. Sturgis. While he did get a somewhat decent exit (politely turning down Meemaw when he realized she wasn't over her ex), I still think there was untapped potential there.
